To compile this list, Inc. surveyed entrepreneurs who have sold their businesses to private equity and venture capital firms and were referred by applicants. These founders responded to a questionnaire about their experiences and provided data on the growth of their companies during these partnerships. Firms pay an application fee to be considered for this list.
