John E. Klinge
Managing Director
Mr. Klinge, a Managing Director, joined Levine Leichtman Capital Partners in December 2004 and is a dedicated member of the Deep Value investment team. Mr. Klinge is the Fund’s Chief Credit Officer. He also serves as a Portfolio Manager and participates in the origination of investment opportunities, due diligence, portfolio management and exits.
Prior to joining LLCP, he was a Principal at William E. Simon & Sons for six years where he co-founded the Special Situations Group. At Simon, Mr. Klinge structured and marketed three dedicated distressed debt funds totaling $225 million of investment capital that focused on making opportunistic investments at all levels of the capital structure with particular emphasis on undervalued bank debt and high yield bonds. Mr. Klinge was responsible for all trading, transaction execution, and credit functions for each investment position recommended to the Simon investment committee.
Prior to joining William E. Simon & Sons, Mr. Klinge spent 15 years at Bank of America where he was a member of the Bank’s investment team responsible for managing its proprietary $600 million Global High-Yield / Distressed Investment Fund. Mr. Klinge also represented the Bank as agent and lender in the management of its troubled U.S. corporate loan portfolio in out-of-court restructurings, Chapter 11 reorganizations and Chapter 7 liquidations.
Mr. Klinge received a BS in Accounting from Golden Gate University (summa cum laude) and earned an MBA from the University of California at Los Angeles. Mr. Klinge is a licensed CPA.
